As we all know facebook is huge and if you didnt already know facebook has actually now overtaken google in the amount of traffic its gets each day

but for us internet marketers all those numbers are very appealling and many of us often think about making money with facebook and how we can tap into all that traffic

i know i have in the past… in fact ive tried a few different techniques and methods using facebook all with mixed results

basically i decided to write a blog post about this topic because i have something that i really want to get off my chest as its really important that you and everyone that is building an online business knows this what im now about to tell you

i have just watched a recorded webinar about how some guy makes loads of money using facebook and of course gives you some sob story about how he was struggling for months untill finally cashing in with his secret techniques and then to pitch you his course at the end of the webinar for a gob smacking, jaw breaking, whopping $997….. blimey!

BUT…. before you go out there and buy any facebook course, ebook or video course teaching you how to make money with facebook, follow my tips laid out below to ensure your not wasting your time and money on things that are not profitable and building your business

Below are 3 tips that you should always consider when ever your thinking about making money with facebook

Fan pages are Not Assets

i will say that again fan pages are not assets and you should not EVER and i mean ever rely on them for an income. If you are building an online business and you are serious about it then DONT EVER use fan pages and think of them as an asset.

Let me ask you a question…. Would you ever use youtube, squidoo, digg for your entire income and feel comfortable knowing that your entire business and income is in some one elses hands? I hope you answer NO, because thats a terrible way to build a business and its the same when you use facebook

By all means you can use fan pages to make an additional income by promoting affiliate products or cpa offers but dont spend all your time on them

Best Way To Use Fan Pages to Build Your Business

If you know how to build good facebook fan pages which get some good traffic then the best way to use them for your own benefit is to find a way to funnel your facebook traffic into your own marketing funnel, by that i mean some form of a squeeze page, landing page or somewhere where you offer them some good value for FREE and you capture there name and email address

by doing it this way you are building your online asset (your email list)

by funnelling your fanpage traffic in this way you may in fact lose some traffic or even some commissions but remember that by simply making some 1 off sales with cpa or affiliate products through your fan page is not building you a future online asset (getting them into your sales funnel is)

Best Way to Build a Real Online Asset

is to create your own product which you own. Market your product to targeted traffic and build a subscriber list of customers…. Now that is an asset that you own and which can make you money for years to come not a fan page

Once you have your own product in place and you want to get exposure to it and tell the world then using facebook is perfect for you BUT as long as your sending your traffic to a squeeze page as i said previously

One way that you can increase exposure and customers into your business without using fan pages is facebook ads. In order to get the best ROI (return on investment) from your advertising costs send all your traffic to an opt in page where you give away some free videos or some kind of a valuable free report or ebook

These days and especially on facebook videos are probably the best thing to give away for FREE if you want to build a subscriber list but the main thing is that what ever you give away it has lots of value and you are helping your subscribers

dont take this information lightly otherwise you will end up wasting a lot of time and money on tasks that will not ever help you build a real stable and profitable online business
