When buying a domain name there are some very important things that you must consider like how you plan on making money from your site. Most of all sites that i build are either for adsense, amazon or clickbank so my domain names are always keyword rich.

What is keyword rich?

You may already have a basic understanding of what this term means but i will explain anyway.

When building your new site your obviously going to try and sell or promote a particular offer, product or service. You will have your keyword that you want to rank for in google so say for this example its “lose weight naturally” Now if this is the keyword that you wish to rank for then can you guess what type of domain name you want? well it will need to be either www.LoseWeightNaturally.com , www.LoseWeightNaturally.net, or www.LoseWeightNaturally.org

I cannot stress this enough that what ever keyword that your trying to rank high for in the search engines you MUST have a keyword rich domain name, so basically what ever keyword you want to target for the search engines you must have the same keyword in your domain, and no spaces, slashes or any of that nonsense either.

What if none of those domains are available?

Then dont buy the domain name. Of course its up to you how ever i will say that google gives you more points and authority in the search engines if you have the full keyword that your trying to rank for in your domain name. Ive made many sites all using keyword rich domains and ive always had very good ranking results.

You may also be thinking about using a .info or any other extention if the com, org and net are not available. Dont, because those 3 domain extentions carry the most weight when building a site for the search engines so unless you want to create more work for yourself then stick to these 3 extentions only!

Not having a keyword rich domain is the biggest mistake that most new marketers make when trying to build a new site, get this first step wrong and your fighting an up hill battle from day 1.

When ever i purchase new domains i get them from either www.GoDaddy.com or www.NameCheap.com both are great services and ive never had any problems with them.

Here is a sneaky trick that i do every time i buy a new domain name. I go to google and type in godaddy coupons and usually the same few sites come up so i have a quick look through and find some coupon codes that i can use to save a few bucks with.

It may only be a few bucks but it soon ads up after you have bought a few domain names!

All you have to do is use the code from these sites and put them into the promo code box in the checkout area of either godaddy or namecheap. Some of the codes work some dont, but you will always be able to find one that will work if you look around for a few minutes.

You now know how to purchase a domain name correctly and this is a crucial step for what im going to be giving you over the next few weeks.

Before you go rushing off and buying keyword rich domains and thinking that you know how to rank high then think again because there are also a few more things that you must know in order to know how to dominate your competition in google.

Starting from my next post i will be taking you through a step by step process of how to build a site from start to finish that makes money. I like to build adsense sites to make money but this step by step formula can be applied in basically anything as long as your using wordpress (which i highly recommend) using as your platform.
